Baix Penedès
Baix Penedès is one of the four smallest regions of Catalonia and at the same time one of the most active and dynamic. It is located between Barcelona and Tarragona. El Vendrell is the capital of the region, with maritime districts and kilometers of fine sandy beaches.
The region becomes a place to enjoy its people and culture, such as the ancient and powerful tradition of castellera; stroll among the Roman monuments and modernist buildings; swim in its beaches, and savor its gastronomy, headed by the chaton, wines and champagnes with DO Penedès and blown.
Currently, services are the main sector of activity in the region, concentrated essentially in retail trade, construction and transport. Tourism has a determining effect in the region, especially family agrotourism and wine tourism, associated with the traditional wine production.
The municipalities of the region are: Albinyana; Banyeres del Penedès; Bellvei; Bonastre; Calafell; Cunit; El Montmell; El Vendrell; L’Arboç; La Bisbal del Penedès; Llorenç del Penedès; Masllorenç; Sant Jaume dels Domenys; Santa Oliva.
